Hollywood treats moviemaking like baking, an exact science of precise measurements that produces repeatable and predictable results.
The problem is that making a movie is much more of an art, like cooking.
With self imposed arbitrary deadlines, movies often have to make it into theaters without having had the necessary time to develop.
The Independent Film world doesnt live under these restrictions. Not that this guarantees quality, but very few low budget art house movies feel under cooked, whereas so many Hollywood movies seem half baked.
